Your Session (church governing board - Susan Boyle, Connor Boyle, David Carlsen, Roberta Tracy, Doug Heywood, and Cassie Carlsen) met Wednesday evening and we have been in communication via email and phone with each new development regarding COVID-19. We continue to humbly seek God’s wisdom for the good of our entire community as we navigate these unsettling developments.
Just as Jesus Christ cared for the health of his entire community, we believe our actions will help lower the health risks to people in our beloved church family, and in the Western New York community.
Our decision to cancel worship and other gatherings isn’t one we take lightly, and we are aware that you may feel a sense of loss and disruption in an already uncertain time. In many ways, the season of Lent has now moved from one that is merely theoretical and liturgical to one that’s “real.” I encourage you to use the journey of Lent and its wilderness leanings as a lens through which to contemplate this new experience. God did not leave God’s people in the wilderness indefinitely; God always provided a way out. We believe the same today.
Know that your church is still here for you. I am still available to speak with you, pray with you, and care for you, even as we take prudent measures to help protect you. Thank you for your continuing support for one another, and please pray for all those affected by the virus and the caregivers who are on the front lines.
